The majestic and serene Lake Waikaremoana is only 20 minuites away, a mecca for fishing and boating. Tackle the amazing 3 day Great Walk with stunning views from Panekiri, or a short 30 min walk up to Lou's Lookout will take your breath away, There are plenty of day walks to be enjoyed and transport to and from the lake can be arranged. If boating/fishing is your pleasure, this can also be arranged for you to try your hand and sample the fresh trout.
Experience private fly fishing at our very own stretch of the Waikaretaheke, the trout here are a challenge you won't forget but will be a tasty treat when you manage to land one.
Mahia beach is only 1 hour 15 minutes away and well worth the trip. Set on the peninsula, Mahia beach is safe for swimming and the climb up Mokotahe Hill is well worth well it, showing Portland Island, and on a good day right across to Napier.
Napier is two hours drive South the great Art Deco city, with loads to do there as well. Gisborne, first to see the sun in New Zealand is 1 and 1/2 drive to the North..
