Cottage | Colac Bay | #31286
Quartz cottage – so named for the large quartz rocks that you will see from the gateway and up the drive to the cottage. Orepuki has a rich gold mining history and gold can still be found on the beach.
Quartz cottage is at 27 Mullins Road and in the small township of Orepuki. The cottage is fully self-contained, is modern, clean and welcoming. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and you can choose whether to dine at the table or at the island bar. On fine days, you can also dine outside on the decking or sit and look at the awesome sea and mountain views that stretch around Te Wae Wae Bay.
A 5 minute walk in the township will lead you to Orepuki Tavern where you can dine and also get essentials such as bread and milk. Orepuki Café, newly opened is also available for dining and has a very contemporary menu. Things to do in the area; Beach walks and swimming, diving (dive for seafood – mussels, paua, kina and crayfish), fishing, surfing and there is also shorter walks to complete, gold panning, fossicking for semi-precious stones at gemstone beach or simply just R&R back at the cottage.

Nicely appointed getaway; comfortably accommodating us (2 adults, 3 boys and the dog). We were battered by the southerlies, but she stood strong and stayed toasty warm! Having recently moved to Central Otago from Wellington, it was almost deja vu! We'll be back.
