Cottage | Wellington City | #32551
Self-contained affordable cottage in rural settings Spacious for 2, still enough space for 4 adults, extra kids ok. Freeview TV + Free Wi-Fi. Pine forest and native bush for kids to play with plenty of space to explore.
Incredibly private, surrounded by pine forest. 100% rural, yet only 15 minutes drive from Wellington CBD.
Quite warm now with Heat pump (recently installed), log burner and oil heater so you'll be cosy even on coldest days.
Please note this is rural and somehow quirky bach, not a hotel. If you prefer humming city and 4+ star accommodation you might enjoy more staying in one of Wellington hotels. This is reasonably priced bach for people who like outdoors and rural. No public transport nearby (closest bus stop 4km walk over hills) and nearest shop about 20km return trip. The access road from the highway (last 5-8minutes) is windy uphill but quite scenic after you pass the quarry.
Negotiable (and not always available) for an additional fee: Pick up/Drop off @ Airport or Wellington CBD, car, ...
Air bed, porta cot and more extras available on request, just ask.

Stunning location next to the forest. All our family members loved every day of staying! Batch had everything we needed, cosy fire place, heat pump, well equiped kitchen, fridge with freezer, hot water all the time and good bed to sleep in. We enjoyed two lazy boy chairs to relax in. All Clean and tidy. Well presented on our arrival. 10 out of 10 for us!
Hi Joan, thank you for staying with us. Yes, this place is rural but still so close to Wellington and some people find the short uphill windy drive from the highway to be scenic; as we still do on most days although living here now for a year; it's a shame they're planning a highway through the middle of it. Based on more feedback we're abandoning our assumption to have the log burner as the main source of heating and we are having a heat pump installed next week.
Hi Kate, that's unfortunate. Actually sorry for the heater - the knob was damaged and is now repaired. Also we try to keep the bach clean before new people arrive, but in some instances when we're not around we have other people cleaning the bach here and there. I will update the listing to mention this is rural (and admit somehow quirky) bach and you need to like this sort of rural setting and bush - this is not and we neither want it to be a posh motel nor drinking & smoking den.
Thank you Sam. Yes there was once an off ramp that allowed you left turns to/from the highway but that was removed by NZTA and we have face it every day (actually to Wellington it's not as bad as from Lower Hutt). Well we got used to it and we still like this place despite that :)
