Lovely house and lovely location. Great common area, large porch, well stocked kitchen (note - no oven). Sleeping on top floor can be quite hot during summer nights, but is to be expected (might benefit from a standing fan or two!). Stayed with our twin 5 year olds and they were fine to do the walk to and from the beach (we did cheat & drive down a couple times as well!). Beautiful views from house. Noticed the house is for sale...if it's not sold, we'll definitely look to stay again!
We had a great time, great property with a beautiful setting. Beach is a short walk down the hill, we did this 2 or 3 times a day with a 4 and 6 year old so is easily manageable. The beach has something for everyone, rock pools, waves and a clean creek to play in. At low tide the walks around the headlands are spectacular. House has all the mod cons with comfy beds and was clean and tidy. Pity was that we couldn't stay longer.
Cons:3 level house: 1st level - gaming room and 1st bedroom (not really suitable for sleeping due to humidity and awful smell); 2nd level - kitchen, bathroom and living room; 3rd level - 2 bedrooms (only master one has a door). The house is not suitable for kids - lots of stairs. Third level is very hot (even at 11pm) so it's very difficult for kids to sleep there. The beach is a bit far - you need to be fit to return back from the beach by foot. Pros: great view, quiet, good kitchen/bathroom.
Bach has been locked for most of the year hence the 'smell' opening and airing would have fixed this. Heat. Well it was 28 degrees and even hot in my own house just down the road. It is a bach and not an air conditioned building. Stairs were disclosed and mentioned as not suitable for mobility challenged persons. This includes crawling babies. We have had all our kids through the bach without any issues at all. Good kiwi living.
