Bach or holiday home | Lake Okareka | #33040
Arguably the best lakeside holiday home in Rotorua.
The Lakehouse on Okareka, a villa built in the 1930’s
and lovingly cared for by its craftsman owner, is a haven of rest and rejuvenation on the shores of one of New Zealand’s most beautiful lakes.
Due to the proximity to Rotorua The Lakehouse is ideal for couples and families or for the touring overseas guests.
We provide an alternative in accommodation from the mainstream hotel and tourism facilities and provide guests with a true lake edge experience.
Sitting literally right by the beach, The Lakehouse has uninterrupted views across the English cottage garden and green lawn to the lake, with views beyond of native bush, farmland and to Mount Tarawera.
The Lakehouse is located in a tranquil bay at the end of a peninsula offering total seclusion and facing to the north.
The house is well appointed to reflect the individual character with the best in furnishings, bedding and amenities.
Enjoy the all year round serenity, solitude and privacy. It will provide an ideal venue for entertainment and is a quality accommodation by the lake edge.
There are many vantage points on the 1/2 acre property to sit back and soak up the quiet natural atmosphere. The beach is sheltered and safe for swimming and for parking your boat. The native bush clad hills flow to the waters edge where you can paddle in the kayaks while listening to the cicadas, and watch the native tui’s and wood pigeons romancing above.
Enjoy our 2 kayaks. You may wish to cast a fly-rod line off the beach for a rainbow trout. Others might like to take up the challenge of a friendly game of tennis on the private court.

This is one special house. Very old fashioned, especially the bathroom but in a quirky nice way views from most windows just stunning. Exceptionally well equipped, had everything, beach towels, flasks, kitchen had every utensil you could possibly need. Main bedroom very comfortable. Taking kayaks through nature reserve was simply stunning. Very relaxing veranda. Can't recommend enough. Only downside was the amount of geese a d duck droppings. Couldn't really use the lawn.
The lake house is a gem. It was on a beautiful setting. As we are a family of 5 with 3 Young children , the property was rather huge for us but we ended up getting close together in the living room every night. It was nice waking up every morning with a lake view at the kitchen windows. As the weather was too cold we did not managed to enjoy all the facilities. This house will be great for bigger parties and definitely a car is needed to the lake house.
