  • Great stop over location after Wanaka and before the coast

Great stop over location after Wanaka and before the coast. Found it easy but only because I knew the difference between Makarora and Makarora west. It is remote. No cell phone, no television or microwave so be prepared. It does though have an open fire which was great. In rainy times it does have a stream running under one bedroom which is unusual. Character aplenty and plenty of beds for all.

In a lovely spot and clean but website description of the property having 3 bedrooms is misleading. The 3rd bedroom is a room leading off the main bedroom with only a curtain to separate it - this wasn't suitable for our group. The website also says there is Freeview but there was no television,

A very comfortable property for a small group or family, wanting to get away, enjoy a "kiwi batch" style experience and explore the Makarora / Haast area. The house is very well positioned to the sun with lovely mountain and river views and has a woodburner to make the place very cosy in the evening. Good, simple facilities.
