Bucket List:

* Take Road Trips

* Count the stars

Biddy is totally off grid with solar lighting and a gas cooker so come with your phones and cameras fully charged. Even better, forget your phone for a while and really escape. There is no television, which lends nicely to playing cards or a board game, reading from the library, listening to the antique battery radio and then snuggling up outside with the duvet under a starry sky on the old wrought iron bed.

Biddy is located 8km north of Masterton on our family farm. She is 7.5 metres long (which happens to be the greatest length that a kangaroo can jump) so ample room to leap about. From your armchair you have a beautiful view over the farm and from your bed you look out at the mountains.

Standing on the front steps you can see the Loopline Vineyard and just beyond the old red barn is Paper Road Vineyard which offers casual drinks, dining and pizza nights. Loopline Olives welcome visitors for oil tastings and only 15 minutes up the road is the Pukaha Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre where you can get to see the white kiwi.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience glamping. Bring along your favourite coffee for using in the plunger and keep your beverages cool in the icebox. The bathroom has a hot gas shower and the caravan is kept cosy with a gorgeous wee coal stove. We provide your linen and towels.

  • Beautifully setup little spot in a lovely location

    Beautifully setup little spot in a lovely location. If you want it get away from it all and recharge the batteries, but not have to travel too far from Wellington- I very highly recommend a stay at Biddy! Everything you need is provided, just bring along the wine & cheese platter....

    Biddy is a truly romantic experience, a throwback to the middle of the last century, a wood interior, coal fire, cosy caravan tucked away on the about 200 meters from the farm (With a toilet and a warm shower ten paces away). Our first may night was cold outside and clear, the stars, the milky way amazing, then inside for a coffee and cognac with the fire warming the caravan. There are a few touches to modern life, led lights, a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, fire extinguisher.

  • Biddy is just the best place to relax and chill out

    Biddy is just the best place to relax and chill out. It's warm and cosy and for the first time ever of going away we felt no pressure to go out and occupy ourselves, opting instead to enjoy the comfort of staying in Biddy, reading and playing board games. You have the most incredible view of the Milky Way and it's such a peaceful location - we feel very lucky to have stayed here and I am sure we will return, only for longer next time!

  • Beautifully restored caravan and outhouse is brand new well appointed and cosy

    Beautifully restored caravan and outhouse is brand new well appointed and cosy. Lovely use of colour and comfort with homely touches like a hand knitted blanket. Little coal range is not too effective so pack warm clothes! A wonderful experience on a working farm so sheep are nearby. Would definitely return and highly recommended.

    Owner/manager responds:

    I'm so sorry to hear that you were cold. I will take a look at the fire as usually people say the opposite, that it warms up very quickly.
