Cottage | Christchurch City | #33579
This stunning property is a loving tribute to the old cottage that preceded it on this site. The new building's facade recalls the imposing street-friendly presence of the original cottage, now enhanced by award-winning landscaping that draws looks of admiration and neighbourhood appreciation from all who pass. Old-fashioned sash windows (double-glazed for warmth), bright black and white quoins and copper planters for geraniums complete the welcome.
Behind the electric gates the property opens up to a grassed expanse to the north. A small terrace invites alfresco dining or whiling away the early evening hours as the sun goes down. First floor balconies open up from each bedroom to the same view.
The neighbourhood is quiet, but not far from the restaurants and cafes at the northern end of Stanmore Road. Other local facilities include a nearby supermarket, bus routes and Richmond Playground. A little further afield lies the Wilding Park Tennis centre and The Palms Shopping Mall.
For larger groups, this property is affiliated with two adjoining houses Maison du Ciel (Bookabach #35473) and Maison du Soleil (Bookabach #35475) via a garden gate. So it is possible for larger groups to stay in close proximity, yet maintain privacy when required.
This house received a Gold Award in the Master Builders House of the Year 2015 competition. It has been tastefully decorated and offers internal access from the garage. It is naturally warm but fully appointed with heated ceiling and gas fire in the living areas and each bedroom has built-in panel heaters.

These accommodations look historic from the outside, but the inside is the very latest in comfort and convenience. The rooms are spacious and super clean. We had everything we needed for our stay. We COOKED our meals in the fully stocked kitchen, enjoyed the patio and back yard, and enjoyed the quiet neighborhood. The New World Market is a three minute walk. We walked into town, enjoyed the Tram, the punting on the Avon, and the Canterbury Museum. We will definitely book here again, if travel plans allow!
House is in a great location, very quiet and close to supermarket and shops. The house itself is lovely, big backyard (fully fenced) and well stocked. Only thing we think it was missing was info on local transport to getting into town etc.
It is a very beautiful house. both inside and outside. We thought the house was amazing. The attention to detail and beauty - really appreciated staying there. The house was very comfortable and warm. It had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. Great location, very central. We would love to stay there again.
The location was great, close enough to the city for easy access yet far away to avoid any hustle and bustle. Supermarket walking distance. Peaceful location with ample space to relax. Would have loved to stay longer. We would definitely book this property again so are hoping that there is another family wedding or celebration soon.
