Description

  • Secluded and sheltered pool area, catches all day sun, that turns into a magical evening setting.
  • A QUIET SHELTERED BAY OF UNIMAGINABLE VIEWS ! Glowing Sunsets and Warm Seas.
  • You'll love the pool area, here the sound of the waterfall soothes & afternoon drifts into evening.

Penguins Nest is a very private property, sheltered by lush grounds of beautiful shrubs and flowers. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac but only minutes away from all the amenities. Completely re-furbished & renovated in time for summer 2015/16. It retains the charm and character of a loved family home. First time, ever offered as an exclusive holiday stay. Named after the Little Blue penguins that regularly nest under the garden shed !

From the garden a winding path leads down through the bush to Tapu Bay a lovely sandy beach, warm & safe to swim, with flounder, cockles & mussels for a feed Then caves and interesting rock pools for the kids and great fishing off the point too. House and garden views are spectacular, ever changing as the tide laps gently at the golden sand. A peaceful cul-de-sac of trees and bird-life. Yet only a stone’s throw from the bustle of Kaiteriteri. Here you'll find water-sports, mini-golf, a health spa with vegetarian dining, a couple more excellent restaurants and water-taxi’s that can whisk you to the Abel Tasman Park.

A Mountain Bike Park and the Taste Tasman Cycle Trail on the doorstep, follows the coast from Nelson to Kaiteriteri. Golf at several courses around the region. Motueka, has 2 cinemas, a great choice of leisure shops, two supermarkets, with many tasty restaurants & cafes. The coast and rivers provide excellent sea or trout fishing.

A visit to Golden Bay is a must, enjoy the lovely, old style town of Takaka. Just beyond town is Pupu Springs, the largest fresh-water spring in the southern hemisphere. Before you reach Takaka, hang a left, to catch a salmon at Anatoki Salmon Farm, the café will smoke your catch in a choice of styles. Spend a while at Wharariki Beach, it's huge caves, sand dunes and rock formations, are one of our favourite spots. If you’re lucky you’ll see baby seals playing in the rock pools. After a busy day sightseeing you can come home to relax in a really lovely home, pour a wine and swim in the pool.

Special conditions: The house is fitted out with beds for 9 people but an extra person may be accommodated on a sofa bed. A further 7 beds are available in our adjoining property, The Beech House, please enquire 021 02361049 On leaving the property guests are expected to leave the property reasonably tidy. • Probably the most comfortable property we have had the privilege to stay

Probably the most comfortable property we have had the privilege to stay. The layout of the rooms, amenities and location far exceeded expectations. The photos really do not do the property justice and the garden and view were totally unexpected surprises. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

  • This property is ideal for larger groups / families

This property is ideal for larger groups / families. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children. Having separate bathrooms for each couple and another 2 bathrooms for the children was perfect. Property was spotless and and well stocked, everything we required for our 6 day stay. Views were exceptional, location ideal, property delightful. We made excellent use of the pool and the surrounding walks and vistas. We highly recommend this property to others.

Absolute heaven! We stayed 5 nights before Christmas and just loved our stay. Paul and Karen have a lovely home with all the necessities to make you feel right at home. The beach is so lovely and private - down a steep path but the kids all managed fine. The pool was lovely but the weather was just a bit cool for swimming. Highly recommend this property!

  • The pictures do not do the Penguins Nest justice

The pictures do not do the Penguins Nest justice. It is very clean, large with a great downstairs entertaining area where our bridal party spent most of our time. If cooking is your thing, this place has it all, double oven, island range top, plenty of small appliances, eight person dinner table with view of the property and bay a couch/tv area with a fireplace. The property is amazing, manicured, lots of vegetation. Lemon trees, beach access, lookout seat, outdoor pool, everything.
