To be at Slipper Island is to escape from the everyday. Just four kilometres of the Coromandel Coast, Slipper Island seems a world away.

Beautiful safe sandy beaches, scuba diving at your doorstep, sheltered bays for kayaking and beginner snorkelers, interesting rocky outcrops further around the coast for exploring, there is lots for the adventurous to do

For those interested in land based activities, the 217 hectares that is part of Slipper Island provides stunning coastal walks, amazing vistas and plenty of exploring. The dotterels have chosen our beaches as their home and we often see Kakas flying amongst the pohutakawa.

For those interested in fishing activities, Slipper Island also provides charter fishing service. Our 20-years experienced local skipper will show you a wonderful fishing trip. His personal achievement includes 10KG+ Snapper, 153KG Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and 35KG Moonfish. He got all the fishing knowledge and can show you the right techniques to catch your epic fish! Our boat Slipper Express is a purpose-built sports fishing machine. It has huge space for ideally 4 anglers to fish at the same time. Since fishing is a very weather and sea condition depends on activities, please arrange your fishing trip with the island manager in advance.

While we are surrounded by water, potable water is a precious commodity. All of our fresh water is stored rain water so we ask guests to be careful with their water consumption. As we are a boat access only island, we are off grid. We do have a new solar power system but as the majority of our power is supplied by solar, we ask guests to be aware of the power that they are using. We are also off the councils rubbish and recycling program so we ask our guests take their rubbish and recycling with them when they leave.

Slipper Island is the perfect getaway for a couple, family or group of friends or even a work group.

Special conditions: Please call for information on water taxis to Slipper Island. The water taxi fee is $150/chalet for round trip (if within 4 people) Please bring your own beach towels. Smoking allowed outside only. Water conservation is essential. No council rubbish service - please take everything home with you.

  • It was like a dream holiday for us

    It was like a dream holiday for us. We never thought that we could have an island holiday so close to Auckland. Location was excellent and very relaxing. All the staffs were lovely. I am already planning to go back again for a longer period.
