  • Authentic New Zealand beach holiday experience.
  • Short walk to beach, surf breaks, cafes and shops of little Opunake.

Welcome to The Printery. Formerly Opunake’s original newspaper printery, the building has been restored with rich red Jarrah wooden floor and stairs, a modern kitchen with granite benches and big open shower. The living and kitchen space is downstairs with two upstairs bedrooms among the Rimu rafters. The open warehouse design, stained glass and bold interior colours give this unique house a special character. With its big rear yard, stream setting and open paved courtyard, the indoor/outdoor aspects of the house make it ideal for holidays and living. The Printery is just a few minutes from the beach, the lake and the shops with views of Mount Taranaki through the glass double front doors.

This is a unique place to stay in an awesome location close to the beach and campground. On the wall are articles showing the building's history as a printery. It has been converted to a comfortable place to stay without concealing that history, which is cool. It still needs a few finishing touches (eg. Internal door handles/curtains) & a few things needed attention, such as a leak under the sink in the kitchen and a chair with a broken back, but these were minor issues. Would recommend!
