Birdie on Tui is a traditional 1960s kiwi bach recently renovated and a newcomer to Book-A-Bach in 2016!

Be one of the first guests to come and stay at our divine holiday home and make this one of your favourite places to stay. We don't need to tell you how good Whangamata is. When buying the bach we looked at many towns and nothing compares to Whangamata for things-to-do, particularly things-to-do for little kids! We have a two year old ;-)

After a week in Hot Water Beach holed up with a demanding toddler, Whangamata's cafe strip beckoned us more than once! You can get a good coffee in Whangamata plus there is a Cinema for the wet months. Tick! Tick!

It's also seriously beautiful. The estuary is a total gem for families with little kids, we have just spent Xmas teaching our little boy how to doggie paddle there!

Then there is the main beach, super long it really is two beaches in one, and offers a huge range of activities. Surfing, ocean kayaking, SUPing, swimming, you can do it all here.

There are also a huge range of walking tracks surrounding Whangamata, and the likes of Cathedral Cove and Ha Hei are about a 45 minute drive away.

A lot of blood, sweat, and cheers have gone into transforming our perfect home-away-from-home. We bought the property in July 2015 and our local builder spent 6 months bringing her back from the brink! Rewired, relined, re-roofed, repainted inside and out, not to mention polishing the original floors and reinstating two new bathrooms and new joinery.

The property has gorgeous flow, with a huge central living area offering substantial and stylish seating. Interior design is a hobby for me so there is a plethora of housey-type books to enjoy as well as NZ artwork and mid century/vintage decor to soothe the soul after a hard day's beaching! Please enjoy our things! We also have a huge amount of toddler friendly toys for your own kids and a proper cot for babies.

We hope you enjoy Birdie on Tui and come stay again.

  • A lovely cosy bach

A lovely cosy bach. We stayed here with another couple and it was perfect as we were each able to have our own bathroom. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great for our weekend, but we really enjoyed getting a fire going on the wood burner. The bach is beautifully presented with very cool and interesting furnishings.

  • I have given a high score for this property

I have given a high score for this property. We enjoyed our stay and found everything to our satisfaction. My wife (Raewyn) enjoyed the good quality bed (She suffers from low back pain). The TV was great once we learnt how to operate it. We were not used to Freeview. It might pay to have a step by step instruction protocol for the TV. The refrigerator was a bit noisy but this may have been due to its being turned off by mistake. The location was great and the bach was comfortable and clean.
