Bach or holiday home | Blind Bay | #34856
The property was settled in the 1860's by the Sanderson family & the beach house built in 1905.
It has it's own beach and 2 streams with a historic Pa site which was in constant use before the 'treaty of Waitangi.'
The family home sits in it's own beautiful bay and is often quoted as 'one of the best spots on The Barrier.'
It is approximately a 20 minute drive from Claris Airport, store, cafe, golf club and social club along a windy gravel road lined with native trees and coastal views.
The boat shed has been converted into an additional sleeping area with 1x double bed and 2x single beds (great for summer use).
The house runs on solar electricity with a back up generator. There is gas for hot water & cooking. A Webber Q series BBQ is provided and recommended for cooking as the gas oven is slow. There is a pot belly wood fire for heating (no electricity on Great Barrier Island).
We would recommend hiring a car

Important family time for 5 adults and a border terrier dog spent last three nights in a magical away from it all environment . We had a taste of Great Barrier Island, back to nature eco friendly living with solar heating and water sourced from a stream. House well equipped and comfortable. Loved the fact we could move around the various decks off the house following the sun. A peaceful restorative ambiance for us all to enjoy. We will definitely be returning
