  • Walk to the beach is by a short track which is lit at night but access is locked after 10pm
  • The view extends looking out over the Whangaparaoa Bay & Hauraki Gulf
  • There is also safe & secure camping available if you want the "kids" to have the outdoor experience

This location & the surrounding area are real "beach bum" stuff - Plenty of other fine beaches are on the Hibiscus/Whangaparaoa Coast which in non peak times is only 30minutes drive from downtown Auckland City. So no need to contend with the hassles of a long drive in traffic especially on Public Holidays!

Apart from a small but comprehensive shopping center at Red Beach(about 1 Km travel from the bach) there is also good malls at Orewa, Silverdale & Whangaparaoa all of which have plenty of good supermarkets, cafes takeout food eateries.

Also there are plenty of places/activities to visit close by such as:

Waiwera hot springs/pools

Shakespere Park/ Army Bay, Wenderholm Regional Park,Eves Kauri Park in Orewa and of course too many other beaches to explore & enjoy on "the peninsula'.

Great area for good fishing, underwater diving all around the area.

Another great thing to do is to catch the daily ferry which leaves from Gulf Harbour to travel to nearby TiriTiri Matnagi Island which is run by DOC and is a well established bird sanctuary which has birds that are endangered species or very rare. A days trip to the island is unforgetable!

There are also plenty of other routes to travel and avoid the queues of traffic that go up highway 1 - Another alternative is to travel west from the bach & go up highway 16 following the historic & less known Kaipara harbour which joins highway 1 at Wellsford - but before then one can do side trips to say:

Historic Port Albert (Settled by the Europeans in the 1860s).

Atiu regional park administered by DOC gifted to NZ only about 5 years ago - Isolated and little known - quiet & unspoilt with great views of the Kaipara harbour.

Or if you travel west from the bach you can discover historic Helensville, go to the hot springs/pools at Parakai, go to Woodhill forest - within the forest there is offroad motorcycling, bicycling even hunting for fallow deer.

If you just want to go to the city it is still close

Special conditions: Whilst grown up children will be ok on the deck I would not want people with real young kiddies to stay as they could fall off the deck or indeed if they go out of the door then they could go to the front of the bach & there is a 5 metre unfenced drop onto the rocks/stream below - so not an option for young families I feell
