Homestay | Okato | #34916
Cheap little room for unique Coastal Taranaki stay. Right on the
beach. 5 minutes from Okato township with a couple of great
licensed cafes, takeaways and grocery supplies. Right on Surf
highway 45 with a heap of good breaks if the one out front is not
working. A little over 20 minutes to New Plymouth and 15 or so
to Oakura with a great beach and pub. 50 minutes or so to ski field.
Point of difference here is we are not into it for the money just to meet
folk and provide a service. We are pretty relaxed and you are welcome
to eat with us if it suits both. Have a crack at the slide into the pool or
head down to the beach bar and have a quiet beer or BBQ. Dogs are
welcome to join the gang. Cats will be eaten on sight.
We have found it to much hassle for single nights so only take booking for two or more
Special conditions: Room has only a double bed but could fit a couple of kids if necessary. Always a bit wary as there is water around so if they are little up to you to keep an eye on them. We have a couple of very friendly dogs. We are out and about a fair bit so you might have to let yourself in. Room has a little fridge and BBQ available for you. Please do not book a stay here if you are the uptight type or expect 5 star accommodation.

This stay is on top of the world looking down on the ocean, and the only explanation I can find :-) .........is that if you have a hankering for the sea, this is the place to be, tranquil and rugged in one. We had mostly rain but it was still exceptional. This spot is both secluded and nearby to food amenities. I look forward to returning for fish and chips on the deck, watching the sun go down. A truly magical restful spot, perfect for chilling or a base to explore. Highly recommended.
