  • Stunning sea views and sunsets form the deck
  • Surfing, fishing, swimming, walks close by
  • Warm and comfy holiday home with everything you need

Our holiday home backs onto the Paparoa National Park with native bush, Tui, Bellbird and Wood Pidgeons everywhere

Tairawhiti in translation means "the sea where the sun shines across the water" - and that's what you'll,get on fine sunny days....sparkling seas and amazing sunsets.

The house is set amongst the bush on a 50 acre block that was once part of the local gold mining area and full of history .

BBQ on the deck while watching the spectacular surf and the wild Tasman sea and sunsets

This holiday home is a real kiwi Bach, warm and cosy but with everything you'll need for a happy stay.

The log fire heats the entire house if needed and the BBQ can be used wet or fine.

Close by is good swimming, fishing, surfing and bush walks, with green stone fossicking at nearby beaches also.

The old bridge at the Fox River is one of a few left in the south island and is a popular local swimming spot and bridge jumping spot at the right tide.

The Punakaiki pancake rocks, gold panning, caving and more are all close by - brochures for these are in the house....

Owners are usually on site ( further up the hill in their own accomodation to ensure your privacy) and are able to offer local knowledge on places to go etc if requested.

This is a great place to relax, listen to the wild life and kickback for a few days, with the sound of the sea a constant background noise.

Further up the coast, Tauanga Bay, has a great Resturant, coffee and surf spot, with Westport a handy 40 minute drive for supplies

Most Sunday's during the summer a local market is held with local artisans goods ranging from paintings, pottery, silverware, clothing, food, coffee and much more.

Punakaiki pancake rocks are a must see and there is good coffee and cake at the Punakaiki craft shop

The coast road Between Greymouth and Westport was listed by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten coastal drives in the world so we hope to see you soon in our little piece of paradise here at Tairawhiti

what amazing views! wow - we loved beng here and wish we could have stayed longer. the owners deserve the house as 'a work in progress' which undersells it in some ways - it's an older property - with some worn edges which they plan to replace, but it's very much loved and looked after, with nice homely furnishings downstairs. cooking is on a gas two ring, which works fine. fab place - wish we could have stayed a couple of nights longer to chill out and enjoy the views of the sea! thanks Angie

A very beautiful and private place with a bush setting, a magic view over the ocean and the amazing sounds from the west coast beach below. The house was clean and tidy with everything we needed and plenty of character.

Like it says in the description it is comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. It isn't 5* but that was great for us and our three boys. Very clean and tidy. A really warm house with amazing views out to sea. Stunning location and very handy to all the places/walks we wanted to do while on the coast. A great place to base yourself for longer adventures too but actually the immediate location was so lovely we didn't stray far. Thanks for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

  • Tidy and clean

Tidy and clean. Fire place is fabulous and heats the house. Lovely toys in the toy box, meant those I had brought went untouched. Outstanding views. Lovely garden around the house. Recommend this lovely spot.
