Springslands Lodge is almost right at the Junction. Walking distance from the Cafe and Service Station but enclosed in its own little patch of bush. A privately fenced off lawn offers that extra seclusion.
Having your own little brook to enjoy is an extra bonus.I quite often find the deck chairs nestled beside it as couples enjoy the quite of just sitting there watching the water babbling by.
A must is the Hot thermal pools to enjoy. One of New Zealand's best thermal experiences. Recently changed hands after many years of Japanese ownership. Top quality restaurant dining available.
Tramp in every direction.
Wander into Lake Daniells and be stunned by its beauty.
Spot the Trout from the Sluice Box only five minutes into the walk.
Surround yourself in the beech forest within the safety of a well maintained track.
Pop up onto the Lewis Tops and be overwhelmed by the silence.
Spend a bit more effort and look down at the lodge from Mt Muller.
Try the Rahu Basin or many others There really is a walk in every direction.
There's Gold in them there hills...Yes its true.

Ideal for what we were looking for - a clean, cosy, comfy base to stay, eat & drink with friends close to masses of stunning walking options. Easy to find with all the basics you need for a civilised stay, will definately be returning again! Although it sleeps 9, 3 or more would probably need to be children, 3 adult couples worked well for us.
The house is very clean, tidy, and spacious, with comfy beds. Everything you're likely to need is provided, and there's a large lawn which would be great in summer. Despite the heavy frosts outside we were warm, even though we had trouble getting the fire to work properly, so the house must be very well insulated. There are heaters provided if you need them. A great spot by a stream and close to Maruia hot springs.
This Lodge was like an oasis for us, as we were cold and weiry. The property was much nicer even than I thought. It was very homely. Everything was there. The wood burner was great, and with ample wood in the garage. The beds were incredibly warm and comfortable. The grounds were private and quaint. All this just being off the junction and a 30 second walk to both a cafe and shop. It was for us.. one of the highlights of our weekend, and a great place to timeout on route. Thanks Kathleen Se
