  • Staying in the cottage is like snuggling down under your Nana's quilt.
  • Full kitchen for foodies who want food with their wine.
  • Totally private, no signs, no road noise, fresh eggs, full use of the Cottage vegetable garden.

We are normally put off staying where the owners house is on the property, just because if we go away we want to be able to relax and spend time by ourselves. At the Wine Drinkers Cottage we understand this totally. We are happy to leave a key out for you and make sure that you are left in peace. Of course, should you require a sober driver for a trip around the wineries, or advice about the best place to find fresh olives, we can help.

We really do want our guests to enjoy themselves and hope that you will spread the word.

The Cottage is tucked away down a long drive. It's exactly four minutes drive to Carterton shopping area and four minutes the other way to Greytown. There are special things on every day in the Wairarapa, its a vibrant area and only an hour from Wellington city should you want to head to the bright lights. The train service both North and South is great, you don't have to drive if you would prefer not to. We also have some stunning Coastline, Light houses, seals lying around on the rocks and whitebait fritters at Lake Ferry.

Our Cottage is not posh or fancy, however, its got everything you need with Sky TV, great wine glasses, good linen, heaps of books with a reading nook, warmth and plenty of light. We have tried to get that "charming" feeling with a mixture of old and new. Yes we do have jigsaws if it rains. There is plenty of room to park, a semi rural outlook with a pony or two in the paddock next door. We have an acre of land for the kids to run around on and are ok about a pet if they are kept outside.

The Cottage has a deck, just right for sitting on in the evenings, glass of wine in hand and views to the hills. We would love to be able to make our place your favourite "go to" for all your holidays and short breaks.

Special conditions: Sadly we do not have wheelchair access, we are working on it. We are happy to allow a pet provided it is kept outside and is not going to chase the chooks next door.

  • What a fantastic cottage

What a fantastic cottage. The hospitality of the hosts is unbelievable. We have been to other holiday baches and cottages but never have been welcomed in this grand style. The cottage is exceptionally clean with all the bells as whistles of a modern 5 star hotel. Clean linen and clean everything else. we certainly will be back to spend at least a week.

The house was beautifully presented and was lovely warm on our arrival and we were favourably impressed by the well stocked fridge and pantry. The beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet. The house was good value for money and we would not hesitate to recommend it others and would stay there again without hesitation. Our friends who were stay with us were disappointed that due to ill-health that they were not able to join us. Regards Fay & Terry Bastion .
