  • Arthur’s Pass is a quaint little town and has its own charm

Arthur’s Pass is a quaint little town and has its own charm. That said, there are limited options for lodgings. The chalet was a good choice, but perhaps not at the same caliber as all of the airbnb’s we’ve stayed at. The chalet itself is old, not quite as clean as I’m used to, the bed frame squeaks, and although it was convenient to have a washing machine, there was no adequate way to dry the clothes (no drying rack; we had to use hooks in the bedroom and entrance.).

This is a charming bach set in a small group of other baches in a quiet location a short walk from the centre of Arthur's Pass village. The downstairs bed and the seating areas were all comfortable and the wifi was fast and easy to use. The large deck was a real bonus, providing morning sun but evening shade so it was perfect for us. The kitchen has a gas cook top, electric oven and everything we needed to cook all our meals while there. It is a great base for hiking in the national park.
