Originally owned by the Apostleship of the Sea, this lovely villa apartment housed weary sailors who spent their time recuperating and drinking whisky (we found all the bottles under the house during renovations!). Converted into two spacious apartments in the 1960's, it has since been renovated further to include all the modern comforts, including radiator heating keeping the space incredibly warm.

The apartment is beautifully furnished, with two spacious double bedrooms and plenty of natural light. The Master Bedroom has a walk in wardrobe. The apartment itself is in a fabulous location, down a quiet street on the city edge and yet within easy proximity to all of the city highlights. Direct access straight down to the waterfront is through a pathway across the road from the house.

Within two minutes walk you will find:

- Courtenay Place (nightlife, eclectic cafes, bars and shops)

- Oriental Bay (restaurants, cafes, playground, swimming beach)

- Wellington waterfront (two playgrounds, parks, cafes and the popular Sunday market)

- the Embassy Theatre (famous cinema at the end of our street where the Lord of the Rings premieres were held)

- Te Papa Museum

- Bats theatre (quirky playhouse with tickets from $14)

- New World Supermarket

- popular eateries at the end of our street

The main shopping strip, Willis Street and Lambton Quay, begins a fifteen minute walk away through Courtenay Place, with Parliament about twenty minutes away when walking around the waterfront.

The vibrant Cuba Street is only ten minutes walk away, and makes a brilliant destination for shopping, cafes, and live music in the evenings.

A main bus stop is just a few minutes walk away, and all buses coming past head straight through town. The Railway Station is also about 30 minutes walk around the waterfront, or $2 in one of the frequent buses that depart just minutes from the apartment.

  • We feel so fortunate to have found this perfect apartment

    We feel so fortunate to have found this perfect apartment. A block away we found two of the best restaurants in Wellington a well as the amazing Chippery who delivered fresh fish. We were within walking distance to the waterfront, Te Papa - it really was an ideal location. The apartment was equipped with wine, an array of spices, etc. as well as bath products. It truly was a perfect several weeks!

    This apartment, the ground floor of a period property in a residential area, has been beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Walking distance to restaurants and cafes, shops, the waterfront, and Te Papa museum, the location is excellent. Although there is no off-street parking, we were able to park right outside, but didn’t need the car during our stay. It was an easy 10 min drive to the ferry terminal when we left. It was a real pleasure staying here. Highly recommended.

  • Emily and her husband have lovingly restored this 1906 home that is...

    Emily and her husband have lovingly restored this 1906 home that is full of charm and character. What we loved best were the excellent bed (there are 2 full bedrooms we only used one), the full size kitchen and great appliances, and the property location. It is at the top of Hood St which leads straight down to the city. Once we parked, we never needed our car. We walked everywhere and would pick up our supplies on the way home each day at the market at the bottom of the stairs. Wonderful stay!
