Homestay | Lower Hutt City | #35493
Possum Lodge Farm is a rural country homestay within minutes of some great tramping and mountain biking tracks.
There has been a home on this site since 1879 when the Woods family built the original cottage for their family. In the 1930s the house was abandoned and Possum trappers used the old house as a refuge and as a place to dry the possum skins, in fact tacking them straight onto the walls. From then on the house was called Possum Lodge. That little derelict cottage was demolished in 1969 and finally the new house was built in 1980, the home we now own on our little farm.
Wainuiomata is going through somewhat of a renaissance and now there are many new businesss catering to the tourists and holiday makers.
If tramping is your thing the Orongorongos are our back drop where you can do short half day walks or full over night tramps up in the hills.
Our cosy country home is laid out so you can mix with us as much or as little as you like, with 3 dining areas and many outdoor spots to explore, read under a tree or wander through the vast park like gardens. We are aiming to be as self sufficient as possible so raise free range heritage pigs, green egg laying hens, Wiltshire sheep and grow spray free veggies. Roam our small farm at your leisure, whatever you feel like doing. A continental breakfast is laid out in the kitchen for you every morning- free of charge.
You are here to relax, our home is your home during your stay.
