  • Walking distance to 2 beautiful, picture postcard, child - safe sandy beaches
  • Rock - fish for snapper, kahawai, kingfish, and at night fish for squid off the wharf
  • Relax on the deck, enjoy the view of the gulf, listen to music, and be entertained by the tuis.

The house is decorated inside in and out with a music theme, and music can be played from dawn through to into the night. Our deck, as well as the lounge, is set up with speakers, and guests spend many hours sitting on the deck admiring the view, listening to their favourite music through their iPad.

As we live a few minutes from the house, we can assist/ guide our guests in how to manage our Eco house. As I am a keen fisherman, I am on hand to explain the tides and explain how to get to the best land- based fishing spots. There is a loft room, a mezzanine with 2 single beds, a large bedroom with a queen an

No rats on the Island, so the native bird population has really increased. We have set up feeders for tuis and bellbirds on the deck, and these birds entertain with their song, and their antics.

Guests can cook by on a wood fire, which also has a oven, with a little guidance. The fire is not only used is for cooking, but also is used to warm the house, and provides the house with hot water. Also the gas calafont provides hot water as well as the wood fire. There is also a new gas stove with a gas oven.

There is a regular ferry service to Rakino from downtown Auckland, as well as from the North Shore through the summer. This service can be downloaded from Belaire ferries website. Also, there are water taxis that have regular runs, or can be specifically hired. These run from Auckland and Waiheke. We can advise you further about the water taxis. We can also arrange pickup and delivery to / from the Rakino wharf for the short trip to the holiday home.

There are no shops on the island, so all provisions need to be brought with you onto Rakino.

There are 3 kilometres of road and the beaches are within a short walk.

If needed, and by arrangement, we have a loft that sleeps an additional couple, which means possibly 11 can be accommodated. Besides the bathroom, there is another toilet. There is also a hot and cold water outside toilet.

Special conditions: The house is an eco house, as Rakino is " off - the - grid" . We have a superior solar system but at times power needs to be managed if a number of days are not sunny. We live a few houses away and can offer on - the - spot guidance with this. Solar power systems cannot cope with toasters, heaters, hair driers or straighteners, and so they cannot be used. The house runs on tank water, and although there are two large tanks, showers are limited to 10 minutes a day per person.
