Description

  • Expansive views over Waiheke to the sea
  • Acres of private bush land
  • Adjoining private airfield available by appointment only

Set on 18 acres of native New Zealand bush with sealed driveway, flat lawn, established garden and fruit trees, this island haven offers privacy while being only minutes away from Waiheke's restaurants, cafes, beaches, sports park and vineyards.

The amazing Ecozip, the Batch and Peacock Sky vineyard / restaurants are nearby. The Lodge is adjacent to the Whakanewha Regional Park with bush walks to the beach. Whakanewha is Maori meaning "to shade the eyes from the setting sun" you will see how the park got its name when you see the views from the Lodge.

The upper level is impressively spacious with its central kitchen and huge living areas with wood fire opening out through french doors to the veranda where guests can relax, enjoy a meal and take in the magnificent views. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with champagne, wine and soft drinks glasses, cups, plates, dishes, side plates and all cutlery for 22 guests.

The main lounge has a full entertainment system: plasma TV, Sky sport TV, Playstation 3, Spotify, Blue ray DVD player, selection of DVD's and high speed wireless internet (VDSL). The second lounge has two sofas, TV with freeview and DVD, plus a 6 foot Gunther grand piano for musicians to enjoy. The second kitchen has oven, hob, fridge, freezer and seats eight.

The bedrooms are located on the lower level with a large verandah shaded by bush with hanging chairs a jacuzzi bath for one (or two).

Notes on bed layout - Bookabach counts a bunk bed as one bed when one bunk bed means two separate beds (one bed on top, one underneath). So without using either of the fold out sofas, there are beds to sleep 17 people separately, and 22 if couples share the king and queen beds. In addition, the fold out sofas can accommodate, two more couples or two individuals sleeping separately if required - only linen costs applies. If requested, we can setup one more bunk bed (two separate beds) in the second lounge for small additional cost plus linen.

Special conditions: Bond - a $1000 bond is payable a week before arrival direct to Waiheke Lodge Ltd, refunded 48 hours after departure. Stainless steel buckets are provided outside for smokers - no smoking inside please. Please respect the rural neighbourhood and keep noise inside after 11pm - much appreciated. The private grass airfield nearby is by appointment only and used very infrequently. However it is a CAA active runway, please do not walk across or use it as a recreation ground.

Beautiful property, secluded- would need a car if you wanted to get around the whole island, space for kids to run around, house very clean with lots of amenities and very well stocked pantry - thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

The lodge has loads of flexibility with the number of bedrooms and beds, so it suits lots of group sizes. The location is nice a quiet, with bush views.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to take a break away with a large group, plenty of space, high quality and the view is to die for. A bit of a hike away from town which was great for us! Extreamly private! We will defiantly be back.
