Homestay | Wanganui Township | #36117
Hello and welcome to my B&B listing. My home was built in 1901 and steeped with history. The gentlemen who built it also built the Wanganui Opera house & the Collegiate school, so this is a one of a kind home that is registered with the historic's trust.
For guests staying 2 or more nights are welcome to use the kayaks and life jackets free of charge, and as well as being on the river with wonderful views there is a lovely walkway-bicycle track that goes for miles, so whatever your fitness level there is something to suit everyone. we also have a ladies and gents push bike and helmets if you want to use the cycle trail.
The Waimarie paddle boat takes passengers up river at different times of the day.
There are a number of good Restaurants in town which is just a 3 minute drive.
We have the annual vintage car club get together as well as a race course/ horses & greyhounds. There is a local Saturday market held beside river on lower Taupo Quay.
An art museum, Alexander Turnball research library, the boxing day Cemetery circuit (motor bike racing) steam train comes from Fielding and does the scenic route.
Depending on your interests, the beach is just down the road or spend time at Virginia lake or the Tram house and great fishing just across the road.
Please note: I operate a B&B so I live here as well.
I look forward to your booking but until then take care and safe travels.

It was fun staying in such a characterful home. Charmaine has tastily furnished it in period appropriate fittings. We enjoyed the proximity to the walking / cycleway for ease of access to the town areas. Her collection of period costumes was an added bonus. Loved the friendly dog and cat for a relaxing homely touch
