Description

  • Easy walking distance to the Octagon
  • Unique 1860's built cottage
  • Private garden overlooking the City

Canongate Cottage is in central Dunedin, just 10 minutes walk to the Octagon.

Built in the 1860's, this simple yet delightfully charming cottage is unique and cosy thanks to the wood burner. Traditional 'two up & two down', with a kitchen and bathroom in the 'lean-to'.

There are two upstairs bedrooms, one with queen size bed, the other with two king singles.

Please note; bedroom access is via a steep staircase! This makes the cottage unsuitable for children and less mobile people.

A 10 minute walk to the Octagon takes you past the famous Speights Brewery, cafes, bars, restaurants, movie theatres and galleries.

There is a private garden with a view out to the ocean and harbour in the distance.

No off street parking available. Due to its proximity to town parking can be tricky during work hours, from 4pm week days and during the weekend parking shouldn't be a problem.

  • Thanks Haley and Mike for letting us stay at your cosy cottage

Thanks Haley and Mike for letting us stay at your cosy cottage. The place was perfect - wonderful views, preserved heritage, clean and comfortable. We loved the thoughtful food gifts and really appreciated the firewood. Children's games came in handy. We would certainly recommend this place to anyone!

  • I spent 2

I spent 2.5 months here while visiting the Univ. of Otago. The location was perfect for me. The walk to campus was about 30 min. It is 15 min. to the Octagon, where there are many restaurants, bars, movie theaters, convenience stores, and a grocery store. Having a washer/dryer and dishwasher was a real plus. You can see Otago Bay from the porch. The fireplace heats the house fast. Mike provided 2 electric heaters too. Water pressure in the shower was great. Wireless was very reliable.
