A typical kiwiana bach, 4 men staying there as a base for a fishing trip. Ideal. If you want a slice of how the old baches used to be with all the creature comforts complete with composting toilet (this is definitely not an issue by the way), arrange a booking with Renee, you will be well satisfied. Was a lovely stay at the Bach. It is a true "bach". I did not notice the "warning" of the composting toilet before booking, and was totally horrified on arrival. However, using it was not an issue, I'm just a true city slicker. Do not be put off by this. For the price it is an incredible place. It is true tranquil surrounds and unspoiled beach. I will rent the same bach again. It was clean and tidy.
The house at Taieri Mouth was awesome - we had an amazing two weeks there. The house had everything we needed and was a great place to relax over the Christmas break. Great outside space too. The location is ideal with a short walk from the end of the driveway to the beach. We spent hours on the beach with a wonderful safe spot for the kids to swim, boogie-board and kayak. A wonderful location - wish we could live there!
This is a true bach - it's homely and basic with everything you need. I think it would be a bit cold in winter with louvre windows but that's the bach experience! Just a short walk from a lovely beach, nice soft sand and great swimming, awesome bush walk not far away and an easy drive to the Catlins. We really enjoyed it. And the toilet was fine - needs a curtain on the window, we improvised one for our stay. Worth it for the price.
