Description

  • Lochsloy Farm has extensive views, down Lake Wairewa, to Kaitorete Spit, and the sea beyond.
  • Experience life on a small farm, commune with the animals or enjoy a walk in our small native bush.
  • Experience all that the Peninsula has to offer from this central location.

The Space:

The home retains much of the atmosphere that a nineteenth century farmhouse might have had, but has been completely renovated to provide every modern amenity - showers, log burner, claw foot bath, new kitchen with range, hob and dishwasher and wireless internet. Bedrooms are separately heated, and beds have electric blankets. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, while bedroom three is a bunkroom accessed through bedroom two, or separately from the exterior.

Guest Access:

You have access to the entire house, and are free to roam the eighteen acres of the property. There are areas in sheep pasture, a small forestry block, and a stand of regenerating native bush, which hosts native birds such as the kereru, fantail and tui.

Interaction with Guests:

Your hosts live in separate accommodation on the property, and are available to assist you with anything you may require.

The Neighbourhood:

Little River is often called The Gateway to Banks Peninsula. It is the last village of any size before you head up and over the first range on the road to Akaroa. The village has a café, an well-respected gallery, a diner, a service station and a hotel, and is at the head of the Little River Rail Trail.

Getting Around:

We're a 40 minute drive from Christchurch (about 55 minutes from the airport), and just half an hour from Akaroa. Lochsloy is in a central location from which to explore the Peninsula - five minutes from Birdlings Flat, close to walks and the Rail Trail, and just over the hill to the numerous bays, and the busy tourist destination of Akaroa.

Other Things to Note:

We ask that you bear in mind that Lochsloy is a small working farm. We like to keep our animals on our own property, and off the roads, and we ask that you assist by closing gates behind you. If you are unsure about anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Special conditions: House Rules: No smoking Not suitable for pets No parties or events Check-in is after 2PM No parties please, smoking ok outside and pets generally not acceptable, because we live on a farm.

  • Property is fantastic

Property is fantastic. Great setting with stunning views, very clean and comfortable accommodation. Loved this place! It was so nice to come to with the fire already going and the hosts popping in to welcome us with fresh eggs! Just a pity we didn't have longer to enjoy all the property had to offer. Would highly recommend.
