Originally a vineyard area it is now well developed but still offering the gateway to the rugged West Auckland beaches Discover the natural beauty and dramatic black sand beaches of the Waitakere Ranges and the wine districts of Henderson and Kumeu Valley. Where else can you leave the CBD and in thirty minutes be tramping in a rain-forest, walking on a wild unspoiled beach, surfing in challenging waves or relaxing in a winery cafe? The Waitakere Ranges Regional Park is home to some of Auckland’s most visited natural treasures. Explore the lush native rainforest, scenic coastline and windswept black-sand beaches of Piha, Karekare, Bethells and Muriwai. Waitakere Ranges walks are the best way to experience the area’s beauty.Woodhill Forest is a stunning natural playground for adventure lovers.
