Cottage | Rawene | #37235
A lovely sunny cottage nestled in an area of native bush and garden with harbour views. It is in a quiet part of the township, walking distance to the hospital and three minutes drive to the car ferry and shopping area. Rawene is an historic town known as the car ferry town where the vehicular ferry departs on a regular basis to transport travelers across to the north side of the harbour. Rawene is one of the oldest settlements in New Zealand. It has a small supermarket, cafe, garage and petrol station, takeaways, art and craft galleries, chemist and hotel. Your hosts are locals and can help make your stay a memorable one and can share their knowledge about Hokianga's interesting bi-cultural history. Meals and tours by arrangement. BBQ available (one off cleaning and gas charge)
Rawene is 15 minutes from Opononi made famous by Opo the dolphin in the 1950s, 45 minutes from Tane Mahuta, the majestic kauri tree in Waipoua forest, and a 15 minute ferry crossing away from the historic township of Kohukohu. It is roughly an hour across to the Bay of Islands and just over two hours drive to Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga).
Happy to discuss discount rates for longer stays during the period from June to August.

Very well appointed cottage for two or three people. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. They pointed out places of interest and good places to eat.
This is a wonderful cottage surrounded by garden and lawns with a lovely view of the harbour and a verandah you can enjoy your meals from. The cottage is super clean and welcoming with fresh flowers, books and games plus excellent beds, well equipped kitchen and pantry. Perfect location from which to explore Hokianga. Claire and Paul are kind hosts with great communication and generously provided lots of extras. Thank you for looking after us during our stay.
The cottage was even better than what you would expect from the ad in bookabach. Great people and very helpful. The weather wasn't very nice when we visited Rawene, but the experience was very, very pleasant. We would love to come back again.
A very pleasant renovated cottage with modern amenities while maintaining the character of the era. Clean and tidy through out definitely worth a stay and we will go back when we are in the area again. Thanks Paul, we had a great stay.
