Farmstay | Kelvin Heights | #37905
A working deer farm previously open to the public, Deer Park Heights is a 20 min drive from central Queenstown. Up a 5km gravel road two Belle Lotus tents nestled amongst the tussocks and schist overlooking The Remarkable's, Lake Wakatipu and Southern Alps beyond. Share this Lord of the Rings film location with herds of red and fallow deer.
Each 5m diameter Lotus Belle tent has a queen bed, luxurious linen, feather topers and duvets, mohair and woollen throws, sheepskins and for the outside bean bags, camp chairs and table. A continental breakfast is included and your early morning cuppa brewed on a double burner gas cooker in the tent. Quality NZ teas and coffee provided. An "Off the Grid" experience with solar lighting, lanterns and USB charging ports.
Nearby an Out Back Trailer provides a hot shower (not a 10 min one!) and toilet. Attached to it outside a gas hob, food prep area and sink with hot water for dish washing, also a BabyG Weber gas BBQ for grilling and baking. Perishables are kept cool in an efficient cooler box. Pots/pans, cooking utensils, serving dishes and some essential camp supplies (ice, lemons, cooking oil etc) are supplied. Cater for yourself or take up catering options including your own personal chef.
Your hosts, locally born Mike, Bridget, Eve and Tom are eager to share this amazing spot with you. We aim to provide a truly personalised service connecting you with other local personalities and their services (biking, hiking, fly fishing, paddle boarding, photography... along with the host of adrenaline filled activities that is Queenstown). Be picked up from the campsite by helicopter, picnic on the west coast, grab ice from a glacier and back to campsite for a sundowner from one of the worlds most stunning private locations.
Guests are free to wander around the tarns and stock tracks near their tents, (however farm gate and track access not allowed), to enjoy the many spectacular different views.
Special conditions: A sense of adventure is required! While we will do everything to make your camping stay as comfortable and stylish as possible we can sadly not control the weather. Even in the hot Central Otago summer, evenings can be cool so we recommend some warm clothes and sensible shoes for the outdoor areas. You are camping at 834m above sea level in a summer alpine environment.
