This light & modern pavilion on Great Barrier Island provides sweeping panoramic views over the Hauraki Gulf. Once you step up off the level grass lawn onto the expansive decking you’re into pristine architectural modernism. Coast beanbags in the sun, outdoor lounge suite and table in the shade of the glass and steel covered deck. Open the large glass sliding doors to the expanse of the master bedroom, lounge and kitchen areas. Fix yourself a drink from the fridge or Sodastream and find your favourite spot to relax.

Look out on the bay and expanse of ocean from the Coromandel peninsula through to the Whangaparaoa peninsula of Northland; an ever-changing mix of light, ocean surfaces, boats, schools of fish, pods of dolphin, turquoise shallows and white sand. Watch the native kaka parrots, and tui birds feed off the flax surrounding the lawn; or turn on the Bose stereo and open your holiday read.

The pavilion is fully private, self-contained and stand-alone with an automated solar power, water, and gas heating system providing all modern amenities. Floor to ceiling double glazed glass provide endless views and warm nights.

Walk along the property’s private bush trail through to the nikau groves watching the native wood pigeons, fantail and looking out for the shy morepork owl waiting for the dusk.

Freshen up on the private outdoor shower deck under the hot water rain head set high up in the canopy of the surrounding bush, or perhaps the indoor shower if you feel less adventurous. Watch the sun set out over the bay, then slide the shutter screens across to fully enclose the covered deck, and feel the warmth of the patio heater.

Start the Weber barbeque, take herbs from the orchard and whip up a storm in the kitchen, or just head down the hill to the local restaurants and bars.

Once you're totally relaxed, you could go & explore the islands surf beaches, secluded coves, fishing spots and bush walks; or perhaps you’re perfectly content where you are.

Special conditions: This pavilion apartment has amazing views but is not necessarily suitable for toddlers. They are welcome with tight supervision. Our alternative power system is sturdy but cannot cope with an overload. Electric appliances creating heat (hairdryers, -straighteners, toasters, etc.) are a drain on our system. Phone chargers, etc. are fine. No smoking or pets

  • Stunning property and location

    Stunning property and location. The perfect combination of privacy & convenience (it is a steep drive but an easy walk to the cafe + beach). On the first night we were lucky enough to be able to watch dolphins in the bay from the deck!

    The property and land is beautiful, however we were unaware about the lack of heating and cooking facilities. This bach would be perfect in the summer time, it was a little challenging in winter.
