Description

  • Alpine-style stone house
  • Close to Coronet Peak, Shotover Jet and Moonlight Track
  • Open stone fireplace

This gorgeous, modern stone cottage is the perfect antidote to the stress of the big smoke. Its construction from traditional local building materials (including Otago stone and rimu) is complimented by all the stuff you'd expect in a modern home. All the bedrooms, the kitchen and the deck are east facing so they're bathed in sunlight for most of the day, and the cottage is comfortably furnished throughout in a manner sympathetic with its traditional character.

The location on a rural lane just five minutes' drive from Queenstown makes it your ideal base whatever the season. It's just two minutes' drive to the skiing or mountain biking at Coronet Peak, so when you get back, you can dump your gear in the laundry room and lounge around on the sun-soaked deck, or warm your tired limbs in front of a roaring log fire (marshmallows provided) before heading upstairs for a soak in the claw-foot bathtub.

It's also a short stroll down the hill to the Shotover Jet for your adrenaline fix. Or if you're up for a challenge, the start of the Moonlight Track is at the other end of the lane for the long hike or cycle ride to Moke Lake. Exploring further afield is also a doddle, as the delights of Arrowtown and the vineyards in Gibbston Valley are within a short drive.

This is one of the best rental vacation homes I've ever stayed in. The location is perfect if you don't want to be right in the chaotic centre of Queenstown, but still close enough that everything is only 5 - 10 minutes away. The house itself is simply stunning, so comfortable, and the view from the back deck is unbeatable. Everyone in my group agreed this was the best rental home we had on our three-week vacation (which included 4 other rental homes). I hope to rent again some day!

  • Had a wonderful stay over Christmas and New Year period

Had a wonderful stay over Christmas and New Year period. The cottage was equipped comfortably to meet all of our needs at such a special time. A great log fire and some much needed tranquillity. Great walking trails nearby and yet still close enough to the action, retail therapy and restaurants. Would definitely return !
