Be transported to another time and place where the horses are still ridden road-side, where a friendly nod of the head will return a wave of the hand and a knowing smile. Stay in our truly authentic scuffed and weathered quintessential kiwi bach, 4mn walk to the beautiful Tolaga Bay beach and river, shops, pub and cafes. Iconic building in Tolaga Bay, modernised and comfortably furnished, fully heated in winter, fully equipped, up to 4 bedrooms with good clean bedding and electric blankets in winter, renovated contemporary large kitchen and bathroom, friendly hosts. Self contained, wholly equipped cabin to rent together with the bach for large groups or on its own for a cosy nest. Pets welcome on request. Large private garden with lots of fruit trees which can be picked in season, deck, bbq and outdoor furniture. Extra breakfast and table d'hôte with delicious cooking with fresh local and garden products available by arrangement. Or get back to basic and munch on fish and chips on the beach bought from a choice of eating out options. Safe swimming, kayaking and good fishing from the beach at the end of the street or further at the wharf. Launch your boat from the ramp behind the house or hire a local charter for tuna, groper, snapper, terakihi, bluenose and kingfish. You can even swim with the dolphins on a lucky day. Try your hand at feeding wild stingrays (under the supervision of a guide). Surf the local beach break with a short fast wave, good for surfers of all levels, better for more experienced surfers. Hunting, historical tours, bowling club, golf course, skatepark and bush walking all within easy access. Gaze at the milky way, wake up early so you can be the first to see the dawn, or stay indoors wrap yourself in a book from the bach selection, listen to the ocean crashing waves or the absence of man-made noise, watch the world go by and appreciate a very relaxing holiday at its best. Oh happy days. This is Kiwi living, raw and real.

  • This is a great location to stay and close to the beach

This is a great location to stay and close to the beach. Tologa Bay isn't huge so you make your own entertainment and the both properties have enough room for the whole extended family if you want. This is a must stay place if your visiting the area.

  • Easy enough to find

Easy enough to find. Far enough from the main road as not to hear the traffic and only a few streets back from the beach. The wharf is only a few minutes drive away and the shops are close by. The setting of the bach was nice... a flat section with fruit trees, a good seating and barbeque area, off street parking and good all round facilities. The bach itself was very clean with everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Our dog was welcome too. Highly recom.

The black batch is a unique home that captures what beach living used to be like, I called it a time capsule from the past beautifully presented and furnished by Beatrice, to a very high standard with all the modern conveniences and more, that you need to make your stay an enjoyable one, the batch is handily located to both beach and town, and will be back for another stay, Also the beach at the end of the road is great for Kontiki fishing.
