Bach or holiday home | Matarangi Beach | #6704
Our bach is in the old established part of Matarangi nestled amongst the pine trees. We have owned it since 1986 when a few old rugby mates invested at the beach. It is only about 3 minutes stroll to the stunning Matarangi beach and right opposite the tennis courts and down a quiet driveway. We have purposely furnished the bach with good old furniture and decorations to give it a real "kiwi bach" feel. Nothing too flash here. Just kick back and relax! The neighbouring baches are all good people. Matarangi is a fantastic place for kids because there are very few opportunities to get into any trouble, and the people who go there all seem to be considerate sports-minded people.
The fishing is superb if you have a boat, or if you don't have one, you can collect shellfish, spear flounder, or fish off the rocks. The golf course is an International Class 18 hole Bob Charles designed links style course. There are some brilliant holes. Green fees for 18 holes is around $40. There are bikes to go riding on and some beautiful walks to take, and 2 kayaks to use in the harbour or the surf. There is a great cafe "Pipers" and a nice restaurant bar at the Golf Club.
The house does not normally have a TV. We have always been of the opinion that you come here to get away from things like TV, but there are plenty of board games and books to read .
Special conditions: Smoking outside only. There is linen and on site if you really need it,just wash it when you move out. It is definitely easier if you take your own linen though. It is expected that the bach is left as you find it and you give it a good clean ..All rubbish is to be taken down to the local transfer station on Matarangi Drive. We rely on you doing a good cleaning job for the next people thanks.

Great spot, right by tennis courts and easy walk to beach. Relaxed, old-school kiwi bach. Great to be able to take the dog. Not flash (and not advertised as such), but a great spot for a relaxing family holiday. Would definitely stay again!
Like home away from home. Great set up. And room to park the boat. Close to the amazing beach and the wharf was a great place for paddle board beginners and the kids just mucking about in the shallow water, swimming out to the pontoon. Fantastic for cycling with young family and tennis courts dotted around. Was expecting loads of revellers for New Years but, it was quiet. Great holiday thanks.
