This spacious beach-front house is comfortably furnished and recently re-decorated, yet retains that traditional kiwi-bach feel. Solidly fenced from the road, it is child-safe, private and with a full section it offers plenty of space for the kids to play - both grassed and paved - and room to park several cars and the boat. Plenty more parking on wide verge roadside

The house has excellent indoor-outdoor flow from the large, modern kitchen via sliding windows or past 6-seater breakfast bar to 8-seater dining room and double-height living room to large deck and outdoor dining edged by outdoor fireplace. It also has a second large living room with sea views upstairs (for the kids?), which makes living with a number of people easy. And the kids playground 1-along is great bonus.

Bedrooms 1and2 open onto balconies with sea views. Bedrooms 3and4 are on ground floor. Bedrooms 5and6 can see farmland and have child safety windows as does large upstairs lounge.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave and is fully-kitted. Separate hotwater cylinders and town water supply, combined with 2 bathrooms (and 2 separate toilets) are an important added convenience.

Separate storage enables safe storage of all "the beach toys".

Pukehina is a large beach with gentle surf ideal for boogie boarding and excellent fishing, but is also flanked by an estuary a few minutes drive along for the kids to kayak or splash around in warm shallows. There is a boat ramp, surf club and the nearby firestation offering first aid is reassuring. There are several shops serving great coffee, takeaways and necessities - one is only a few minutes walk, the other, a bit further along, sports a popular local bar.

3mins from it is only a 10 minute drive to Te Puke Golf Club or 15mins to Te Puke Town Centre, 30 mins to Mt. Maunganui, Tauranga Whakatane or 40 mins to Rotorua - all along excellent roads. To refuel the boat, petrol station is only 5 minutes away.

A fantastic, relaxed place to holiday!

The property is large and well located BUT it is very old and shabby. Kitchen drawers and cupboards are filthy. Pots, pans, crockery and cutlery are dirty and all old - should be thrown away. The vacuum cleaner doesn't work. The downstairs area of house leaks and if raining heavy, water pours into the lounge. Much better houses available for this price. This house is only suitable for frat boy parties.

  • We have been to Pukehina before & love it

We have been to Pukehina before & love it. The property was excellent. Extremely spacious which was needed. The beach is very handy, as was access to boogies boards. The 2separate living spaces meant the children could entertain themselves (when not outside, at the beach or at the play area close by). The kitchen is very well equipped and having 2 bathrooms also very handy.

Large beach house in a great location, with lots of seating and a large kitchen that is fairly well equipped with labels on all the cupboards to make finding things easy. The house is not perfect but it suited our group perfectly. Nice going to sleep listening to the wave breaks on the beach and having morning beach walks that are only 40 seconds walk from the ranch slider. The beach had a heavy swell crashing on it while we were there, with a strong rip, so not a swimming beach for our stay.

    Owner/manager responds:

Pukehina beach is generally a swim-able surf beach but can vary from perfectly flat and calm to wild and stormy. As with any surf beach, we always advise caution and that if waves are large and you are not comfortable or used to surf, you swim at the surf club further up the beach or in the estuary.
