  • Tongariro River, Turangi
  • Mountain Views, 1/2 hour to ski field, 1/2 hour to Taupo

Charming character kiwi bach beside Cherry Tree Reserve - 1/2 minute walk to the Tongariro River - excellent fishing, fabulous walks, mountain bike tracks - quiet laid-back holidaying, or full-on activities if you prefer:

White water rafting, 18 hole golf course, horse trekking, hot pools and fascinating Trout Hatchery all nearby.

Mountain Views, 1/2 hour to ski field, 1/2 hour to Taupo. 20 minutes to start of Tongariro Crossing - one of the top 5 one-day treks in the world! 5 minute drive to Tokaanu boat ramp on Lake Taupo.

Great local cafes - world class coffee & food available at The Creel (almost next door), rock climbing wall, swimming pool complex, mini golf, comprehensive supermarket all in walking distance.

Bach has grunty woodburner providing unlimited hot water; electric blankets on some beds, duvets & pillows supplied, but you will need your own sheets, pillowcases and towels.

Several board games for the children. The pantry is full of all the staple items - Tea, Coffee, Milo, flour, sugar etc. You are welcome to use anything you find. We only ask that if you are the lucky one who finishes something in the pantry, please replace it. Washing powder and dishwasher powder, detergent etc are all there.

We have some very 'rustic' ancient bicycles in the shed you can use. Ample parking for boats and cars. This is a cosy, quirky family bach - not a sterile 'hotel style' accommodation.

Special conditions: 2 night minimum stay. BOOK FOR 7 NIGHTS & ONLY PAY FOR 6! 1/2 Deposit payable on confirmation of rental - balance payable before rental period begins, unless otherwise negotiated - Direct Credit to our bank account. Strictly no smoking inside bach - thanks. Guests not to exceed 8 - it places too much strain on the bathroom facilities! Linen is available on request @ $25 per person.

Really close to the river and all the walkways. Only 40 minutes from the snow fields

Positives: It's a nice location near the river and handy to town. It's quite spacious. It's well-equipped and has a good kitchen. We enjoyed nice baths with unlimited hot water. The only negative was that our stay coincided with a cold spell and the heating was only just adequate. There's only really the woodburner to heat the lounge and three bedrooms and it didn't seem to be the most efficient woodburner (or maybe that was my lack of skill!).

It might be an older home, but it is homely and maintained with lots of personal items. It does not feel like a rental, it feels like home away from home. Don't expect it to be a hotel, this is casual but great. Location is good, just off SH1 and walking distance from the shops with everything you need. Love the wood burner, and there is lots of dry wood stocked.

We had a great time. Ticked the fly-fishing of the bucket list. Kids loved the park next door to kick the football. Lovely and quiet so suited our 3 generations.
