Bach or holiday home | Hicks Bay | #7664
Whare Onepoto is nestled only 100 metres away from the sand at Onepoto Bay (Horseshoe Bay). Enjoy stunning views of the bay as you breakfast on the deck or relax in the main living area.
Onepoto is a secluded peaceful settlement nestled in native bush, with great swimming, surfing, fishing and bush walks in the area. The beach has a shallow and sandy bottom with a wide open bay and rock pools on the right hand side - the perfect playground for young children.
Take the walk up through native bush to the Hicks Bay Motels. Anglers can enjoy good fishing spots from the rocks to the left of the Bay or at the nearby Hicks Bay wharf.
Boats are regularly launched from the Bay or you can book a fishing charter.
The East Coast is the first place in the country to see the sun and a trip to the East Cape Lighthouse (40 minute drive) is a great place to watch the sun rise. You can also visit the largest and oldest pohutukawa tree in New Zealand outside the local primary school in Te Araroa (15 minutes drive).
There are convenience stores and takeaways in nearby Hicks Bay and Te Araroa and for those in need of good coffee, visit the Manuka Factory Cafe to sample the East Coast's finest.
Whether seeking a romantic getaway, some quality time with the family or a fishing trip with your buddies, get away from the hustle and discover why we know Onepoto Bay to be the most beautiful place in Aotearoa New Zealand - nau mai, haere mai!

We are walkers and were looking for a track to walk which we thought would be available with all that area. The guy at the end of you street up the long drive, phoned the Station manager for Matakaoa and arranged for us to do a coastal walk which was great. Perhaps this could be advertised as a likely outlet? With the clothes line, perhaps a reminder to wipe down the clothes line first before hanging clothes as it gets very dusty and I was caught out...
