The Gardeners Cottage built in 1870 is set in 6 acres of garden on a farm and is fully self contained. Just 1 hour from Christchurch and just off the main highway to Mt Cook, Queenstown and Dunedin. Private and quiet set in 6 acres of established woodland and formal gardens with a lake. A special feature in the garden is a tree which marks the visit of Queen Elizabeth in 1981 and also a plaque to mark the first church service held in Ashburton by the first Bishop of Canterbury in 1857. An 1885 chapel is also a feature as is the 1920's garage with vintage & classic cars. Activities include garden walks, rowing on the lake or just sit and watch the bird life, farm walks with highland cattle, sheep and grain and seed crops. Only 3 minutes to restaurants. Handy to fishing rivers, golf courses, Lake Hood and 40 minutes to Mt Hutt ski field and mountain alpine walks.
Special conditions: $120 for 2 adults, $20 for each extra adult and $15 each child. 20% discount for 7 days or more. Monthly rates by negotiation. Cot and day bed available. Smoking allowed outside only. Minimum of 2 nights stay during public holiday weekends. Check in 2 pm check out 10.30 am Pets outside only.

The property has amasing established gardens and lots of things to see including a beautiful church and museum. The property was like we had stepped back in time - perfect place to start our genealogy research trip, and is only 5mins away from Ashburton.
