Description

Historic Pilot's Cottage nestled in the dunes of Aramoana Spit between the ocean beach and the tidal flats.

Experience wide ever-changing skies and a landscape where the tides and the sealions rule.

Collect cockles and mussels at low tide. Enjoy being stranded at high tide.

Watch albatrosses, godwits, herons, and yellow-eyed penguins coming in at dusk.

Fish from The Mole, kayak to Te Ngaru and surf at Lion's Rock. Wave at the cruise ships going by, then come inside and hole up by the open fire.

Only 15 mins from the shops and cafes of Port Chalmers and 30 mins from Dunedin.

Safe upon the solid rock the ugly houses stand:

Come and see my shining palace built upon the sand!

Edna St. Vincent Millay.

  • Such a fascinating eclectic wee hideaway

Such a fascinating eclectic wee hideaway. The drive in was an adventure in itself. We had seals bathing just meters away & an amazing sundown. Loved the record collection & we found everything we needed. Thanks we will be back. :)

  • Our weekend here was just brilliant, we couldn't have asked for better

Our weekend here was just brilliant, we couldn't have asked for better. It had everything we needed, was incredibly peaceful, we took full advantage of the kayaks, record collection and fire. I would definitely love to return in the future.

  • The house is absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway

The house is absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. Sunrise walks on Aramoana beach, lounging by the fire in the evening, it is just such a beautiful location and the home is exactly that, a beach home, quirky, clean, and so welcoming.

  • This house is magical

This house is magical. Nestled away in the sand dunes it's an absolute haven. There is a pristine beach on your doorstep and tonnes of wildlife to be spotted. The house has a beautiful retro vibe and is comfortable, rain or shine. I've staid twice and can confidently say this is my favorite bach in the whole of NZ!
