  • Beautiful location, bush, tranquility and wonderful harbour view

Beautiful location, bush, tranquility and wonderful harbour view. Everything we needed was at hand. Short hop to the ocean side for surf and great walks, plus the harbour was superb for a paddle on the SUP. A favourite place for sure. We'll be back!

This bach was ideal for us! Beautifully quiet and in a picturesque spot up in the regenerating bush. Well-equipped, very tastefully furnished. An ideal base from which to explore Great Barrier Island. We are determined to return!

Beautiful views from a secluded bach - it's not a 5 star hotel but a comfortable, practical and convenient get-away. It was perfect for our wedding anniversary weekend. If/when we visit Great Barrier Island again I would try to book Kaka Cottage again.

After the somewhat long walk up the hill you get what you deserve; a world class view over the azure blue waters of the bay framed in native bush which you share with the Kaka parrots only. Be prepared for an uncontrollable urge to sit outside, have a bbq and watch the stars come out at night in complete clarity. Be prepared to see the Kakas land in the cabbage tree one meter away from your glass of wine and just sit there and fall in love with the place. You won't want to leave.
