Great location (although the passers through drove us nuts stopping at our front door to take photos - we had to have the curtains shut!), perfect for children (hide and seek was awesome), several families could easily spread out. The rubbish was over flowing at the back - maybe a large group before us? And the spa was a bit green - the kids didn't mind but the adults stayed out - again, maybe overuse from the previous group, but things that should be checked before the new group goes in.
Awakino River Lodge was beautifully presented with a lovely, fragrant garden, roomy spa, comfortable rooms, bathrooms and couches. The large kitchen and outdoor area was perfect for self-catering. Weather was terrible but we were cozy inside.
The Lodge is amazing and truly unique. The attention to detail and comfort, inside and out, is incredible. There are truly no words to describe it (I am sincerely struggling)... let's just say that I would not change one thing. Not even one. In fact, I am going to be missing quite a few things, like the amazing kitchen and the unbelievably beautiful pieces of antique furniture. The whole place is a testament to the owners' passion for history, beauty and harmony. A truly incredible property.
Perfect hideaway - right on the riverfront with everything you could need. Lovely big sofas, giant TV, heat pumps, fireplace, al fresco dining, fully equipped kitchen, comfy beds, peaceful, beautiful property! The dog didn't stop wagging her tail the whole time - loved it!
