After a great day of skiing, hiking, mountain-biking, coneoing or rafting, relax and unwind in our modern bach - a cozy, warm and comfortable little place in historic Raetihi.

Start up the fire, sit back on the comfortable couch or beanbags and enjoy a well deserved glass of wine or beer. Wooden bench tops, wooden kitchen floors and fully carpeted lounge and bedrooms give the inside of the bach a warm, homely feeling. The Bach is fully insulated and has double glazed windows: it's cool in summer and with the modern, efficient fire, it is almost tropical during the cold ski season. The shower has great water pressure and an endless gas system means you will never run out of hot water.

The open plan layout and large wooden bench top table are great for socialising and reliving the day's adventures. The bedrooms are small but there are plenty of clothes hanging hooks for drying those ski jackets and pants and we have two racks to stow snowboards and skis out of your way and locked up inside. Sleep well too knowing that with off street parking for 3 cars and a security light outside that all your belongings are safe and sound.

There is a gas BBQ (please clean it after you use it) in the wood shed which is practical for locking up mountain bikes, ski's etc and getting them out of the way.

Please note that the lodge while very well planned to maximise space, is simply not very big. It comfortably houses 6 people but with 8 it can be a bit of a squash (yet great value per person) so please take a second look at all of our photos if you are booking for a large group because surprises are not always good.

Special conditions: Bedding (Bring your own. Only pillows and mattress covers provided. Bring blankets as well as sheets and towels). Smoking outside only. Cleaning (Required, $40.00 per stay) No TV, But if there is something you really need to see we would recommend going down to the local Cossie club/pub, the locals are really friendly and won't bite unlike in Ohakune. Its part of the great Raetihi experience.

The location is fantastic - away from the rush of Ohakune and still close enough to Turoa for convenience. The Bach is lovely - warm and dry

  • This was an easy location for our stay

This was an easy location for our stay. The Bach was a good size for only 4 people any more and you would be very snug. The photo's are great but do make it look much larger than it actually is. A front door handle would have been useful as every time we went outside the door locked behind us. Beds were very comfy plenty of places to hang stuff. Thanks very much

A really nice place to stay that is close to the mount. The beds were comfortable, a well stocked kitchen, and the place was really warm! We loved it.
