The cottage is very comfortable and warm, normally used for our overseas guests, and sleeps 5.

The cottage has a double bed and bunks, and also a small single bed. The sleeping area is essentially one large bedroom, with an alcove where the bunkbeds are.

(This means the house can sleep five: in a double bed, a single bed and two bunk beds.) There is also a cot in the bedroom.

This property is set within the historic Truby King reserve, site of the old Seacliff asylum. It is an extraordinary woodland and it is locally known as "the enchanted forest".

If you walk five minutes up the hill you get spectacular views of Otago peninsula and Karitane. It is five minutes drive to both Karitane and Warrington beaches, which are safe for swimming and surfing. At Karitane there is a fine walk round the peninsula and the cheese factory is nearby.

There is a woodburner in the living room, and firewood is supplied.

It is an easy, scenic 25 minute drive to Dunedin.

PLEASE NOTE: Though some maps and GPS systems show that the Seacliff end of Russell Road is accessible from Highway 1, it is not. When coming to our cottage, you must travel to Seacliff via Karitane or Warrington, and along Coast Road.

A wee gem of a crib - set in a forest with heaps of local history, this cottage is nonetheless near to Dunedin, shops, take aways outlets. The aesthetic warmth of the wood and stained glass exterior opens up into an immaculate interior that is extremely well equipped. Birdsong abounds in the mornings and the crib is surrounded by lavendar, flowers and herbs. A little bit of magic for the tired traveller.

  • We had a wonderful winter break in this warm and comfortable cottage

We had a wonderful winter break in this warm and comfortable cottage. We were kept warm with a lovely wood burner and plentiful supply of wood. Clean, comfortable and well equipped, with a great supply of games, DVDs and books. We enjoyed visiting nearby beaches and wandering in the Enchanted Forest next door. The cottage is near the main house but you are afforded a wonderful sense of privacy. We will come again, thank you :)

  • Lovely place for family's or couples

Lovely place for family's or couples. Nice big lounge and kitchen and once the fire was going it was very warm. Probably would not recommend for groups of friends and beds are all in one big room. Very happy to stay there again
