Bach or holiday home | Waimate District | #9945
Countryside Retreat Cottage is a charming piece of local South Canterbury history. It is over 100 years old and is part of an original larger estate built in 1913. Set in the picturesque Hunters Hills, the cottage is a fabulous space to relax, unwind and enjoy the sun while listening to native birdsong.
Situated at the end of Point Bush Road, the cottage is only a few minutes drive from the centre of Waimate, or ten minutes from State Highway 1. It is an easy trip to both Timaru and Oamaru (approximately 30 minutes by car), or through to enjoy the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail and the majestic Waitaki Valley. You are perfectly located to spend a day trip visiting Mount Cook National Park and Lake Tekapo.
Local amenities in the Waimate area perfect for families include the Victoria and Knottingley Parks, native bush walks to the iconic Whitehorse Monument which overlooks the Waimate township. The Whitehorse Big Easy Mountain Bike Trail also begins and ends from this part of Point Bush Road. Waimate's local Golf course is superbly laid out and three other excellent courses within twenty minutes drive. Of course a major local attraction is the local Waimate Wallabies!
Your property hosts live on site at Te Kiteroa Lodge Bed & Breakfast which is a stone's throw from where you will be located in the cottage. We are more than happy to check you in and help with any questions you might have during your stay!

Fantastic cottage with an amazing 270 degree view over the Canterbury plains and nearby mountains. We had the place to ourself but you could comfortably fit 2 or 3 couples in. A very peaceful place with all the modern comforts mixed with the charm of an early 20th century cottage.
