The historic Clearview Homestead began life as a tobacco drying shed before becoming the family home of the Vidal family, circa 1915 as they established grapevines on this ‘No2’ vineyard. Nestled behind the hedge above the winery, the fully renovated rustic Homestead has become a sprawling family accommodation full of character & atmosphere. With an entertainer’s kitchen opening onto the dining, living rooms & deck, the gardens are private and sunny – also suited to smaller weddings & gatherings. With two bathrooms, two queen, two double & one twin single bedroom, the house suits varied groups, sleeping ten people easily. The smaller rear two bedroom rimu-lined ‘Shearer’s Quarters’ can be rented & secured separately. Enjoy a glass of Estate Chardonnay on the sunset deck in summer, or relax inside warmed in winter with a huge logfire, enjoying a book with a glass of Clearview Estate full bodied red wine.

Just a few steps away is our Red-Shed Restaurant using our own produce & herbs, organic, local & free range ingredients wherever possible to create our contemporary Mediterranean menu. For a relaxing brunch, a long lunch, the Clearview platter or coffee - enjoy casual rustic dining with friendly service. Sample the extensive range of wines at our Cellar Door, selecting the perfect wines to take home with you. Ideal for families or a long weekend get-away with friends, there are many local activities to experience; trips to the gannet colony, horse treks, river walks & cycle trails, beaches, local wineries, surfing the point break, beautiful Te Mata peak walks, local markets, & the extensive HB cycle trail at the gate.

Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only & ashtrays to be used. Horses welcome with prior arrangement for grazing. The homestead is situated on a working winery/restaurant establishment, children will need to be supervised when outdoors. Dogs are welcome with advance notice - they must sleep outside and be tied up and kept under control.

  • Very homely feel - well equipped property

    Very homely feel - well equipped property. Great to be right on the spot to taste the fabulous Clearview wines and within walking distance of two other major wineries. Nice walking tracks near by. Evenings on the veranda, bbq at the ready, wine in hand. So peaceful. Second time we have stayed and loved it.

  • We loved our stay at The Homestead

    We loved our stay at The Homestead. The house was professionally cleaned before and after our stay which was really nice. The house itself is comfortably rustic. It is spacious and has lots of interesting features which kept us guessing about its history. There are books to read, games to play, comfy outdoor furniture - in other words, everything you could want. We had lunch at the restaurant which was delicious and fell in love with the Clearview Chardonnay. Will definitely come again.

  • Gorgeous old farm style homestead with well worn charm

    Gorgeous old farm style homestead with well worn charm. We were a group of six staying for a 50th birthday - loads of room for everyone. Lovely deck for afternoon mojitos and a great fire in the living room to gather around. We didn't have any kids with us but there is a really nice lawn for cricket and with a swing to keep them entertained. Plenty of big sofas for an afternoon nap and well equipped kitchen. Will definitely be back !!
