* Castlepoint.

There is a shop (that sells fishing tackle). toilets with changing rooms, a play ground, picnic tables,a church, sand hills,surfing,fishing from the rocks and swimming in the bay, boats and trawlers launch from here.

Walking up the steps to the light house is worth it when you reach the top.

Hiking up Castle rock is a challenge and the view from the top is breathtaking.

*Whakataki has surfing and a 9 hole golf course.

*The Whakataki Hotel serves delicious reasonably priced meals, provides back packers accommodation and petrol pumps .

*Mataikona is a remote peaceful location.

Popular with divers for paua and crayfish.

Line fishing from the rocks or surf casting from the sandy beach 3 minutes north.

A boating channel is 3 minutes north.

The Mataikona river has flounder and whitebait in season.

Under the swing bridge the water is shallow enough to wade in.

Great walks along the sandy beaches, stones and road.

Rock formations are unique to the area, and the rock pools have a mix of sea urchins, star fish and little crabs.

The picture post card views of the ocean from most windows in the house and the deck are awesome,cargo ships and fishing trawlers pass by daily, there's lots of lawn (fully fenced) and the beach is a stone's throw from the gate.

The neighbours are rarely home and quiet.

During the week less than 4 vehicles pass by the gate per day.

    Was a good stay a bit disappointed about cleanliness but not a big worry. Has everything you need . Would have liked instructions for dvd player. Not easy access to beach but such a good view. All together we enjoyed our time and would go back. Anyone wanting to get away from the rat race, or really into fishing , take your boat perfect for that type of holiday. Thank you Mollie.

    Lovely spot for some much needed relaxation. Rock formations at low tide quite fascinating. Bach has everything you need. 15 minutes from Castle Point. We’ll be back soon. A special thanks to the owners who helped me get my backpack, back. Thanks again.
