Bach or holiday home | Oakura Bay | #19008
The cottage is a self contained cottage used by the woodcutters back in the days when our barn was a saw mill. We enjoyed it for holidays during the years when our children were young - they could dam the stream, fish for eels, catch fresh water crayfish in the evenings. Lighting in the evening is by candle light and gas light. No TV, no computers, no noise! It is a peaceful haven and we loved being there. There is a large lawn out the front for playing petanque or croquet, and a long drop toilet sheltered by banana palms at the back.
There is a neat kitchen with a gas hob, although most of our evening meals were cooked outside on the barbeque. The fridge is a very small 42L camping fridge, so bring a chilly bin if needed. There is ice available at the local dairy.
You can lie out under the stars in the evening, and count the satellites going past. There are tuis, woodpigeons, kingfisher, pheasants, quail, and even wild peacocks ... this place is a small paradise.
Please note that we DO NOT allow pets - we have peacocks, and two pekin ducks who would be displeased with any four legged creatures in their space.
Very young children would need to be closely supervised due to the adjacent stream.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
1 x Single bed
1 x Queen bed

My daughter and grandchildren loved the peace and quiet and freedom. They also loved lighting the fire for the hot water, trying to catch eels and trying to get the possum down from the cabbage tree. Great experience for them.
