Bach or holiday home | St Arnaud | #22939
Set back from the road on the Lake Peninsular, this older, more basic style cottage is so private that it requires you to weave through the surrounding native bush to get to the door. This house is a classic example of 1970s NZ architecture and it is set on a number of levels, with the living and kitchen areas set around a big log burner. A proper original bach, it is a place to relax and recharge. Approx 10 minutes walk to Lake Rotoiti and approx 10 minutes drive to St. Arnaud Village Store.
Special conditions: Not recommended for small children (steep staircase). No pets. Smoking outside only (please dispose of butts thoughtfully). This property relies on rain water for its water supply. Please conserve water especially in dry periods. Thanks.

Wonderful location and setting. Apart from one double bed, other sleepijng spaces are not so easy to access, so suitable only for the agile. The cottage needs a good clean, it's very dusty and there were dirty bathmats, towels etc around. Otherwise a very sweet little place. thankyou.
The cottage itself was quaint but confusion over light switches and sinking mattresses( we straightened them out with blankets from the cupboard) detracted a little from our stay. Apart from that we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay
Cosy feeling bach. The big beds require a steep ladder climb but that was fine for us. Location and house layout was great. Biggest drawback was that the firewood was either wet or green (and I'm tending to think it was simply green and not aged)- so I spent 2 hours each day trying to get the fire going- I ended up getting firewood from elsewhere which burned great.
