Cottage | Christchurch City | #33579
This stunning property is a loving tribute to the old cottage that preceded it on this site. The new building's facade recalls the imposing street-friendly presence of the original cottage, now enhanced by award-winning landscaping that draws looks of admiration and neighbourhood appreciation from all who pass. Old-fashioned sash windows (double-glazed for warmth), bright black and white quoins and copper planters for geraniums complete the welcome.
Behind the electric gates the property opens up to a grassed expanse to the north. A small terrace invites alfresco dining or whiling away the early evening hours as the sun goes down. First floor balconies open up from each bedroom to the same view.
The neighbourhood is quiet, but not far from the restaurants and cafes at the northern end of Stanmore Road. Other local facilities include a nearby supermarket, bus routes and Richmond Playground. A little further afield lies the Wilding Park Tennis centre and The Palms Shopping Mall.
For larger groups, this property is affiliated with two adjoining houses Maison du Ciel (Bookabach #35473) and Maison du Soleil (Bookabach #35475) via a garden gate. So it is possible for larger groups to stay in close proximity, yet maintain privacy when required.
This house received a Gold Award in the Master Builders House of the Year 2015 competition. It has been tastefully decorated and offers internal access from the garage. It is naturally warm but fully appointed with heated ceiling and gas fire in the living areas and each bedroom has built-in panel heaters.

House very warm with gas fire and underfloor heating. The weekend we there was cold and raining but the house was never cold. House very well appointed kitchen wise and furnished with comfortable furniture. Beds are comfortable and the two bathrooms, with lots of hot water, make getting ready in the morning much easier. Internal garage good too. Location is quiet and centrally located. Will certainly be booking it for future trips to Christchurch
We loved this property, a joy to spend time in and relax. Such a nice quiet spot but just a stroll round the corner to a really good supermarket and a selection of take-out / convenience shops if needed. It was central with excellent access to main trunk lines for travelling across the city.
This place honestly deserves 10 stars! The owners have creatively fashioned the bach into a stunningly unique and highly enjoyable place to stay. Every fixture, lamp, picture, tap, ornament, etc. is fashionably selected to present a distinctly retro and pleasing look that leaves you smiling as the intricacies of the house and yard unfold around you. It was clean, well outfitted, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. We were truly honored to stay in a bach with intelligent creativity
