Bach or holiday home | Karangahake | #35036
Visit the stunning Karangahake Gorge, our bach is located in Waikino only a few minutes walk across the swing bridge to the Hauraki Rail Trail, historic gold mining sites & miniature train.
We are nestled above the iconic Waikino Tavern, so after your day exploring the area you can grab a drink, a meal and relax!
Waikino is located half way between Paeroa and Waihi, close enough to easily pop into town to explore the antique shops and art galleries or head down to the beach for some time in the sun.
The bach itself has four double rooms and a bunk room and there are an additional three double rooms & a bunk room in two separate buildings available for larger groups or individual hire. If you require the additional rooms please remember to select them when making your booking.
Please note: the bach is over 130 years old (it used to be a miner's boarding house), it has been renovated internally but it's still an old structure with the associated quirks and is very much a 'kiwi' family bach not a new building.
Special conditions: Deck is not fenced so not suitable for unsupervised children. If you haven't booked all the accommodation the shearers quarters & baby barn may be rented separately.

Such a wonderful stay. Very clean and everything you need to enjoy time away. Even enjoyed a lovely meal at the tavern below. Only 5 mins into Waihi and other activities close by through the gorge. Would definately stay again. Only one thing is we wish we had seen that there was no washing machine.
There was over 30 cm of rain in the two days before the renter checked in causing flooding and road closures. Unfortunately the oven had been overlooked when the house was cleaned, after I was contacted by the renter the cleaner was onsite with a couple of hours and cleaned the oven, vacuumed and did a general tidy as requested. The renter was offered a full refund but decided to stay for the remaining night of her booking.
